Data in the modern enterprise is no longer safely tucked away in the data centre. Today, as much as 45% of all corporate data is held on endpoint devices such as laptops and tablets.

At the same time, employees are working outside of the boundaries of IT security policies and procedures because they want and need to hold data wherever they are—on endpoint devices. Thus, IT can secure the core, but data will always travel around and through the perimeter.

It’s this changing security landscape that led us to conduct the 2016 Datastrophe Study, in which we explore two key themes:

  • End user attitudes on the role they play in data protection, and their trust in corporate IT departments contrasted with their willingness to circumvent IT security controls in order to stay productive
